Elisa Passini has been elected as Junior Research Fellow at Kellogg College in Oxford for 3 years from October 2019.
Over the last two months, we have been fortunate to receive the visit of world-leading scientists including Kevin Burrage, Elizabeth Cherry, Flavio Fenton, Rodrigo Weber, Eleonora Grandi, Rachel Myles, Don Bers and Richard Clayton. Very stimulating!
Best paper awarded to DPhil candidates Jorge Corral Acero and Hao Xu based in Professor Vicente Grau’s group at Oxford e-Research Centre, who aim to use automation to help clinicians in their diagnoses.
We have a vacancy for two full-time Research Associates to work within the Computational Cardiovascular Science Team until 31 January 2024. We are looking for highly motivated scientists to conduct research within the Computational Cardiovascular Science Team (www.cs.ox.ac.uk/ccs). We welcome applications both from junior and senior postdoctoral scientists.
Under the supervision of Professor Blanca Rodriguez (Professor of Computational Medicine), you will have responsibility for carrying out impactful research at the interface of cardiology and computational modelling and simulation science, within a research programme on “Human in silico clinical trials in post-myocardial infarction”. You will work in close collaboration with our clinical and industrial partners, and other members of the team. We will support your career development, through supporting your scientific work, and also through attendance to conferences, student supervision and supporting applications for personal fellowships, as appropriate.
Professor Blanca Rodriguez has been elected Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).
Fellow of the ESC (FESC) is a title of honour that is awarded to healthcare professionals who have made a significant contribution to cardiology. There are more than 4 300 Fellows of the ESC, many of whom are actively involved in ESC activities, from congress and research to education and advocacy. The FESC title is recognised throughout the cardiology community as a symbol of excellence.
Professor Blanca Rodriguez has been elected Fellow of the European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering (EAMBES).
The EAMBES represents the academic aspects and interests of Biomedical Engineering in Europe. The Division of Fellows is formed by individuals who have distinguished themselves by identifiable contributions or accomplishments in Medical and Biological Engineering and Science. Blanca will deliver a lecture in Brussels in March for the EAMBES fellowship
EuroThrombosis 2018, the annual conference organized by the ESC Working Group on Thrombosis, took place on 4th-6th October in Barcelona, Spain. Alfonso Bueno-Orovio was an invited speaker in the joint Translational Research Symposium organised by the European Working Group on eCardiology, presenting the talk entitled: “Computer modelling in heart disease and thrombosis".
