Departmental Programming Team takes Gold Medal in Northwestern European Regional Programming Contest

On Sunday 27 November in Delft (Netherlands), three University of Oxford teams participated in the Northwestern European Regional Contest, part of the International Collegiate Programming Contest series.
Our team (Xingjian Bai (St John's), Andy van Horssen (St John's) and Yichen Huang (St Catz)) solved 10 problems out of 12, reached 4th place and was awarded a Gold Medal. The team will almost certainly advance to the ICPC World Finals in Sharm-el-Sheikh (Egypt) next November.
Two other Oxford teams: one including Long Hin Vincent Chiu (St Hilda's), Tsz Oi Ip (Merton) & Georgi Petkov (Hertford), and a second team comprising Ivo Karagyozov (Univ), Bogdan Sitaru (Hertford), and Maria-Alexa Tudose (Univ) solved 9 problems each, and they narrowly missed the medal zone.
