Inner protein-protein interactions are always the key to understand the behaviours in a neuron. However, systemic studies of the direct relationships between the behaviours of synaptic plasticity and the inner synaptic protein-protein interactions are rather limited. We present a mathematical model of the main postsynaptic modulators to understand the distinct ways of which these modulators function towards synaptic plasticity. We also discuss the development of a dimensionless index of synaptic plasticity based on the model to understand, for example, the mutations following Alzheimer’s disease.
