Fixed-term for up to 18 months from appointment
Grade 7: £31,604 – £38,833 p.a., with a discretionary range to £42,418 p.a.

The Department of Computer Science has an exciting new opportunity available for a full time Strategy and Engagement Officer to work in the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre (GCSCC / The Capacity Centre). The post-holder will be based at the Oxford Martin School but will also occasionally travel to meetings in the UK and internationally. The specific focus of this post is to support the Oceania Cyber Security Centre in Melbourne, Australia, in their deployment of the Capacity Centre’s maturity model across the Pacific island states. Reporting to the Director of Strategy and External Engagement, you will have the aptitude and experience to understand the relevant issues and to identify promising areas for research.

You will be expected not only to develop the Capacity Centre as a whole including the sustainability of its research and knowledge-exchange activities, but also to build on regional networks and existing relationships of the Capacity Centre and internationally to facilitate the upscaling of the Capacity Centre’s reach and impact and to showcase the products of its research. The focus will be on identifying potential new partnerships for the deployment of the Cyber Security Capacity Maturity Model for Nations (CMM), working with stakeholders to help them utilise its outputs, targeting regional organisations and other ‘force multipliers’. 

You should hold a first degree and have experience of successful engagement with a wide range of high-level stakeholders, such as policy-makers, practitioners, and industry sectors, together with the ability to work on a range of projects concurrently, whilst developing relationships.  A qualification or experience in cyber-security, information systems, international relations, computer science, or capacity building are highly desirable.

The post, which is a full time appointment, is funded by the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources of the Government State of Victoria, Australia and is available until 31 January 2020, has a salary on the University grade 07S scale (£31,604 – £38,833 p.a., with a discretionary range to £42,418 p.a.) This includes membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) and has an annual leave entitlement of 38 days per year (inclusive of all public holidays and university closed periods).
