Research Community Coordinator (Open to split the role for 2 people)

1 year appointment

£2000 allowance per annum (or £1000 per person for 2 people).

The Department of Computer Science is seeking to appoint a Research Community Coordinator. With a role allowance of up to £2,000 per annum to be paid in addition to your ordinary salary, you will undertake activities to build an inclusive community for research staff in the department alongside your substantive role, contributing to departmental efforts to implement the University’s Concordat to Support Career Development of Researchers: Action Plan 2022- 2025, with its three objectives of creating a supportive, inclusive, equitable research environment; recognising and valuing diverse contributions of researchers; and supporting researchers to achieve a range of career goals.

This position is for one year in the first instance, reporting to the Director of Academic Environment (Reuben Binns).

With a budget of up to £1000 per annum for events, you will organise in-person activities (e.g. lunches, mini research talks, other activities based on suggestions from researchers) to bring together fixed-term research staff from across different research themes and teams within the department. You will act as a point of contact for researchers to raise their feedback, suggestions, and concerns, escalating these to the appropriate individual or committee, and identifying areas for improvement with regards to equality, diversity and inclusion within the research staff community. You will participate in the department’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, representing the interests of research staff, and collaborate with the University’s Researcher Hub, acting as the department’s Research Staff representative.
