Grade 7: £37,524 - £45,763 p.a. per annum with a discretionary range to £49,850 for exceptional candidates

The Deputy Finance Manager – General Ledger is a key role within the department, managing a team that delivers transactional finance support to teaching and research activities as well as departmental professional services teams.

This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working two days per week.

About the Role

As Deputy Finance Manager – General Ledger, you will be responsible for managing four members of the finance team to deliver an exceptional level of service to the department. You will also assist the Deputy Head of Administration and Finance (HAF) with budgeting, forecasting and monitoring of financial performance. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Line management of four team members, including managing workloads, career development and training
  • Quality assurance of financial transactions and ensuring adherence to University and departmental policies
  • Preparation of management accounts, including month end procedures
  • Assisting the Deputy HAF with budgeting, forecasting and monitoring financial performance throughout the year

About You

We are looking for a finance professional who will be a proactive team member, with an interest in delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate would also possess:

  • Education to a degree level or equivalent experience
  • Studying towards an accountancy qualification such as ACA, CIMA, ACCA or CIPFA or a qualified accountant
  • Previous experience of a similar finance role, including line management
